About us

WELCOME ON BOARD

We are Adam & Veronika behind this travel blog and we are here to help you with your travel to the best or unusual places around the world and how to get there without flying!

Often we are receiving questions like:
How did you get there?
Where did you go there?
Is it cheap?
Is it safe?
And mostly why did you go there without flying?

Why just don’t take a plane and be there almost right away?

Well, after visiting over 50 countries by land, collecting thousands of photos, videos, and incredible experiences, we know why!
And we will share it with you so you don’t need to struggle like we do sometimes.

HOW IT STARTED

A few months after our first trip together to the island of Mallorca we had to go back to work, which was depressing. We knew that a few week’s holidays per year was not enough for us.
So we moved to the Netherlands where was easier to save more money for bigger trips.

6 months work – 6 months travel
That sounds better!

Traveling by land takes more time, but it also gives you more experience!

And why travel without flying?

Well. That’s on Adam.

I have a big phobia of flying! But also when I started to travel, there were not so many flights like now. It was normal to take a bus or train for 20 hours and basically lose 25% of your holiday just to get there.

So it goes all together and I’m happy for it!
Endless interrail hours spent on a train looking out from the window at the beauty of nature, meeting new people, and traveling together for a while like best friends are things you will not experience if you just fly above it.
Still, if I’m meeting other friends somewhere I start my travel a few days before them just to get there, for me to get there is a huge part of travel that you shouldn’t miss.

I traveled from the Netherlands to Mauritania for 5 days and more than 5000km by land.
To see the transition from Europe to Western Africa and the Sahara desert is unbelievable…

And what about Veronika?
First what I remember as a child from holidays with my parents is a long traveling by bus to destinations like Yugoslavia, after I met Adam, and because of his phobia we kept doing our trips mostly without flying.

The funny thing is, I’m scared of boats so nobody wins.Memories of our first Interrail, opened my eyes, traveling can’t be planned exactly to the minute and you should always have a plan B in your mind.
Getting to know new cultures, and tastes of food, meeting people along the way, and experiences will never stop fascinate me.In general, I think if people travel more, and learn about other countries, their history, and traditions, the world would be a better place.

We will share with you our honest thoughts and tips to inspire you to take a train, bus, or ferry to your next holidays.
